Make a statement with our custom pivot doors. These doors do more than open a house; they set the tone before anyone steps inside.
Pivot doors allow for much larger, wider openings than a standard entry door. Often used as oversized entry doors, they give a home a bold first impression and real curb appeal.
Available in Stile & Rail construction (French door style) or LVL core with either horizontal or vertical planks.

Exterior Pivot Doors
Exterior pivot doors typically replace a standard front entry when a homeowner wants a wider, more dramatic opening than a hinged door allows.
Because the door swings on a center pivot rather than side hinges, it can be built taller and wider without adding weight to a single edge.
Cobb Custom offers two pivot hardware systems sized to the door:
- The Dorma CP440 handles doors up to 440 lbs with up to 4 feet of overhang from the pivot point.
- The Dorma CP1000 steps up to doors as heavy as 1,000 lbs with up to 6 feet of overhang, for larger custom sizes.
At the threshold, a solid oak sill comes standard, with other wood species and ADA-compliant aluminum sills available for accessible entries.
Exterior moulding can be added by request to match existing trim.
Many exterior pivot doors are paired with direct-set sidelites, which add even more presence without changing how the door itself operates.
Interior Pivot Doors
Interior pivot doors are often used as a design statement inside a home, for a primary suite entry, home office, or a striking divider between two living spaces.
The wide, center-hung swing gives a room presence that a standard hinged door doesn’t.
Cobb Custom builds interior pivot doors in two construction options:
- LVL Core “Plank” style, with horizontal or vertical plank layouts and pre-priming available
- Stile & Rail construction, for a more traditional look
Because interior and exterior pivot doors share the same construction options, a home can carry one consistent pivot door style from the front entry all the way through the interior.
All pivot doors are built to a standard 2-1/4 inch thickness, with custom sizing made to your design specifications.
Choosing a Pivot Front Door for a Custom Home
Choosing a pivot front door starts with the opening.
A wider entry, or one with more overhang from the pivot point, may call for the heavier-duty Dorma CP1000 hardware rather than the standard CP440.
From there, it’s a construction choice:
- Stile & Rail doors give a French door look with veneer options
- LVL Core “plank” doors offer a more modern, linear look with horizontal or vertical planks
Both are custom made to your design.
Finish options include pre-priming and paint, wire brushing for texture, or a range of wood veneer species to match existing trim.
For accessible entries, ADA aluminum sills are available alongside the standard solid oak sill.
A dealer can help match hardware, construction, and sill options to your opening.
